The Canon EF 2X II telephoto extender is a reasonably inexpensive way to double the focal length of some of the Canon lenses. There are a few pro's and con's when considering going this route. The image quality of this extender is extremely good and maintains the image quality of the lens that is attached to.
9.5k. Posted February 26, 2004. When I first got my 300/2.8L-IS I had the 2X-I and then when I got the 70-200/2.8L-IS lens I tried a 2X-II belonging to a friend. Sold my 2X-I the next day and bought the Mk-II. It's that visibly sharper and better contrast. In fact I bought two of them and have used them along with the 1.4X-I all three stacked.
About Canon extension tubes. The original EF25 extension tube was made by adapting the 2X extender housing minus the optics, whereas the EF12 appears to be made for Canon by the makers of the Kenko tubes. The new EF12 and 25 which can be used with EF-S lenses both appear to be identical in style to the Kenko tubes.
The Canon EF 2x II Extender is an easy and very affordable way to dramatically extend the reach (focal length) of compatible Canon L Series lenses (and a few additional lenses). This review will sound very similar to the Canon 1.4x Extender Review, but the 2x function is basically the same. Go to solution. jsteffenson. Apprentice. Options. 08-24-2023 03:32 PM. I have an R5 and an EF 100-400 L lens with a RF-EF converter and would like to try a 1.4x extender. I assume I should get an EF 1.4 extender to mount between the converter and the lens rather than RF extender to mount to the camera and then the converter.
