This left Mercedes with the unusual 4Ă—4 sitting on the showroom floor, until Dale walked in looking for just such a rig.

The Ford Transit has taken the campervan world by storm with their new AWD drivetrain. For a long time, the Mercedes Sprinter was the only van capable of 4x4 or AWD from the factory. Up until 2020, you needed to have an aftermarket 4x4 conversion done on your Ford Transit campervan if you wanted to reach the road less travelled.
